I Must Be A Mermaid

mermaidsurvivalguide“I must be a mermaid, Rango. I have no fear of depths and a great fear of shallow living.” – Anais Nin

I’m a Mermaid, I’ve always known this somewhere deep within me and later in life I accepted that I have chosen to walk on land in this lifetime, foregoing my tail for feet on which to dance.   It’s an interesting journey exploring the dichotomy as I came back in this lifetime as a Capricorn, a sea-goat, with the head of a goat and the tail of the fish being my sign, further alluding to my oceanic nature.

I’ve lived around the US in this lifetime, always in a state that is close to a large body of water including the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean and even the Arctic Ocean and much like Adam Sandler’s character, Bobby Boucher in the Water Boy movie, (“Now that’s what I call high quality H2O”), I’ve sampled water from around the world including the purest artesian wells and even water from Lourdes, France.

Water nurtures me, it heals me and I find that my soul feels a bit lost when I’m not living close to a large body of water. There’s something about just seeing the water that makes me smile and lifts my energy. We each have an element or two that we strongly connect with. You don’t need a psychic to tell you what that element is, usually your astrology sign gives you the clues, look at your sun sign, your moon sign and your rising sign and you’ll see your elements there. I’m a Capricorn earth sign and my moon and rising sign are both water signs. What I find most interesting about this is that because I’m part earth sign and part water sign, I’m happiest when I’m on the sand or rocks, where the waves meet the shore. There’s something about that earth and water intermingling, that creates my perfect place. When I’m in an area where stone and water meet, my psychic sensitivities and intuitive magic are at an all time high.   I’ve found this can be created in a variety of ways, not just at the ocean, but also with waterfalls. The Grove Park Inn for example, has an underground spa built out of stone with waterfalls cascading all around the spa. The energy there is a mermaid’s dream. Every time I visit, I feel like a mermaid swimming in a private grotto, it’s pure magic!

So I’m a land living mermaid, with a love of the sea and all of its creatures, along with my great fascination for wearing pearls and collecting seashells. It’s comforting to know who you are and why you love the things you do. If you’ve wondered if you’re a mermaid too, check out this delightful book – A Survival Guide for Landlocked Mermaids by Margot Datz, which has just recently found its way home to my library.  Datz’s guide explores the challenges of living in the domesticated material world, while staying connected to your intuitive, freedom loving, mermaid soul.

Are you a mermaid? I’d love to hear from you if you are and from the fairies, sprites, and elves as well.  What element, earth, air, fire or water speaks strongly to you?

And the question that I love to ask the most.. Now You know what book I’m reading, what are you reading this week?
